In 2018, we recognised the need to streamline work processes and make them more efficient. To achieve this, we compiled technical sheets and manual pdfs into a single reference booklet for use in the field. This not only saved time and made it easier for our team to build with confidence, but it was also so useful that other field staff began requesting copies of the booklet. It helped field staff build constructions faster, with increased accuracy, without needing to refer to multiple separate manuals or rely on their memory.

The success of our reference booklet motivated us to take the next step and digitise it. Using basic spreadsheets, we designed a system that more comprehensively incorporated construction variables. This sparked our imagination and we began envisioning how we could turn this information into a comprehensive, functional, industry-specific app. Our goal was to make it even easier for professionals in the field to access the information they need to work efficiently and effectively.

In early 2021, we released a trial version of the app, available only on iOS in Queensland. To our delight, word of mouth alone drove over a thousand users to independently download the app, and the feedback was incredible. Field staff were able to quickly find answers to complex technical questions, apprentices were able to complete tasks that were previously beyond their abilities, and users praised the app's simple, easy-to-learn interface. We even received feedback from users who found value in unexpected ways, such as store managers using the app to better fulfil field staff requests, and training departments using the app to support exercises and instructions.

Overall, the success of the 2021 trial reaffirmed our commitment toward our philosophy of collaborative testing to find the best real-world solutions. Our 2023 app features major updates based on user comments and requests. We can’t wait to hear what you think!
